So this is normally the part where I dazzle you with an awesome array of skills, certifications and funny stories about “the day I found … on someones network”. Well sorry to disappoint but I spend most of MY time analysing pcap files (for fun) and writing python based Maltego transforms to do the work for me.

I do have a unhealthy interest in network forensics, malware, offensive security and wifi hacking.

  1. Hello. i’m excited to try your social media transforms. I am new to maltego but I have been able to install and run a couple of local transforms and would like to move on to remote TDS. I am trying to follow your instructions in your documentation (http://www.sneakersinc.net/docs/MediaMonkey-UserGuide.pdf). But i am lost when i get to
    TDS Seed URL’s – https://cetas.paterva.com/TDS/runner/showseed/8aa9143d2c396309377b7c39df6d0f5b738d5a4
    Custom Entities – https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/maltegoentities/MediaMonkey.mtz

when i am on the TDS server and i add the url, i get a message saying that the url must be alphanumeric. I can’t figure out where to add this url.
And the custom entities script will not open bc my mac doesn’t know how to open an .mtz file. any advice you can give me would be so greatly appreciated. i’ve been having a hell of a time finding useful documentation on how to understand maltego and your blog is the most promising so far!
    thank you,

    1. Hi Charissa,

Sorry you are having some issues getting the Social Media transforms to work, lets see if we can get that sorted.

Firstly the custom entities can be imported directly within Maltego, download the MediaMonkey.mtz file and then within Maltego select the Maltego button, Import, Import Configuration.

      Maltego Import Config

This should then allow you to browse to where you’ve saved the .mtz file and will run through an import wizard that will add the custom entities and icons.

Now to add the TDS Seed you need to “Discover” the new transforms. Within Maltego again, select the Manage tab and then click on the “Discover Transforms” button.

Select the “Discover Transforms (Advanced)” option and then a wizard will appear.

Provide a name for the transform set in the Name box and then paste the TDS Seed url into the URL box.

Click on the Add button and then click Next, this will take you through a wizard that will add the transforms into your Maltego client.

Hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other issues.
